
The Hyde County Board of Education will conduct a Special Meeting via Zoom at 5:00 p.m., on Thursday, December 31, 2020, with the purpose of the Board reviewing and discussing re-opening the schools to students.

The Hyde County Board of Education will conduct a Special Meeting by telephone conference call at 4:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 27, 2020, with the purpose of the Board presenting and approving a lease agreement for modular units at Ocracoke School and a Hurricane Dorian Recovery Update.
The Board may also conduct a potential Closed Session meeting to consult with the Board’s Attorney.

Our School System is committed to providing resources to all students and families to ensure emotional well-being, healthy living, and wellness in all aspects of one’s life. Thus, Hyde County Schools is pleased to inform our community of a partnership with Integrated Family Services that provides a Crisis CHAT line that is available for all staff, students, parents, family, and friends that will offer online emotional support 24 hours a day. Trained chat specialists are available to assist individuals who are depressed, going through a hard time, dealing with a crisis, need to talk, or having thoughts of hurting themselves. Any life issues may be discussed utilizing the Crisis CHAT line. The goal of Integrated Family Services’ Crisis CHAT line is to help you and others reduce stress and feel empowered to make healthy decisions. The Fall Art Exhibit and Fundraiser scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday, November 12th is now starting at 5:30pm until 7:30pm to allow parents and community members browse through the artwork before the PTO meeting starts at 6:00PM.

Mattamuskeet Elementary School is a host site for the Salvation Army’s Annual Holiday Food Drive! Let’s help them with their mission to feed families in-need during this holiday session. You can drop off any non-perishable food items in the box provided at the entrance of MES. We will be taking up donations until mid November!

The home football game scheduled for this afternoon has been cancelled and rescheduled for Monday, October 21st. No football practice this afternoon either. Volleyball Senior Night is also cancelled. Alternate plans will be informed soon.

Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out to our school system in different ways and have asked how to possibly help Ocracoke School in the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian. At this particular time, they cannot take any physical items. However, if you would like to send a donation that will go to Ocracoke School, please send it to our central office so we can accept it on their behalf while they work on cleaning up!
