Ms. Catherine (Kitty) Mitchell
Ms. Kitty graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Studio Arts. She has been a professional artist ever since then, owning and operating the Soundside Studio art gallery for 5 years, starting an artist co-op that continued after she moved away for some time. She also taught art in schools as a visiting artist and also as an art teacher in the Rockingham County Schools. She worked as an illustrator for the Winston-Salem Journal and Creative Edge Advertising agency and as a freelance artist for many other clients. She has been teaching art at Ocracoke School since 1991 and continuing to exhibit and sell fine art in galleries on Ocracoke and off island.
She loves teaching art to all ages and learns as much from her students as she hopes to teach them.
