Dail Berry

I was born and raised in Hyde County where I graduated from Mattamuskeet in 2011. I attended East Carolina University from 2011 to 2015. Go Pirates! I received a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with a science concentration. During college, my love for science grew and that is where I discovered teaching science was my true passion. I began teaching at Mattamuskeet Early College High School in August 2015. During my time at MECHS, I have accomplished many things: WITN Teacher of the Week in September 2015, North Carolina Science Teacher Association's Middle School Science Teacher of the Year in 2016 and representive of NCSTA winners at the North Carolina SMT Celebration of Science, Technology and Mathematics Education. I am currently an advisor for the Envirothon teams, the Science Olympiad teams and the Varisty Ducks Unlimited club. I am the chairperson for the Sunshine and Hospitality committee as well as the School Improvement Team. I have always wanted to have a career in teaching and I am truly grateful that I was given the opportunity to start my career in my hometown.

In spare time, I love to spend time with my family and friends along with helping in the community. I am a proud member of the North Carolina 4-H Honor Club (proud member since 2014) and I also spend a lot of time volunteering with Hyde County 4-H. I am also a proud board member of the Hyde County Waterfowl Association where I am actively involved with the Mattamuskeet Waterfowl and Decoy Festival that is held every January. I have strived to be a part of the community since I was in middle school and I think it is very important to volunteer and have a voice within your community.
